Longacres House, completed only in 2009, is masterpiece of contemporary architectural design which has been published in international architectural books and reviews. It is set within a ‘European Designated Conservation Area’ on 12 acres and 500m of breathtaking uninterrupted coastline along The Burrow Peninsula close to the village of Portrane in North Co. Dublin. It has direct access onto the secluded Burrow Beach and from here miles of coastal scenery can be explored.
It is only 15 miles to Dublin City centre and 15 minutes to Dublin International Airport, yet it possesses the enviable charms of a peaceful and scenic coastal environment with a blue flag beach to match any other along the coast of Ireland. It is serviced by bus and rail and is only 5 minutes from the M1 motorway.
The setting for this exceptional structure surveys an area of immense ecological significence resulting in its coastline receiving the European objective of ‘Special Area Of Conservation’. The mile long outcrop of ordovian rocks that connects the blue flag beaches of Donabate and Portrane is thought to have been the result of a volcanic eruption on offshore Lambay Island. Heading northwards the outcrop merges with a sand and gravel ridge of salt marches and dune grasslands known as The Burrow. Life here is teeming with flora and fauna throughout the year. As well as being home to a number of rare plants including the green winged orchid it is also a sanctuary for migratory birds.
The views from Longacres House along its vast coastal boundary are utterly remarkable, so much so that one cannot comprehend its close proximity to the city. It looks out directly onto a natural bird sanctuary, sailing boats in Rogerstown Bay, Lambay Island and an ever changing seascape. It is undoubtedly amongst the most stunningly scenic, picturesque and peaceful places imaginable.
The house and roof terraces comprise a total area of 9,500sq.ft. and its unique design make it extremely adaptable to facilitate a wide variety of events.
